Introducing the Compact and Capable Solo

Innovating in Education and Industry

The Penta Machine Solo addresses key challenges in prototyping and low-volume, high-mix production with its compact, cost-effective design and powerful 5-axis capabilities.

For Industry

Transforming prototyping and low-volume production with innovative solutions:

  • Low-Volume, High-Mix Production: Ideal for producing diverse, small-batch items with precision.

  • Accelerated Product Development: Place the Solo right next to your engineers to cut samples and iterate designs in real time, shortening time-to-market.

  • Cost-Effective Prototyping: Reduce expenses compared to outsourcing for prototyping and low-volume production.

  • Enhanced Independence: Reduce reliance on external machine shops and maintain control over intellectual property.

  • Optimized Machine Utilization: Avoid taking time from larger industrial machines for small or intricate parts.

  • Complex Part Manufacturing: Create small, organically shaped parts, such as prosthetics and medical devices, with ease.

For Education

Shaping the future of machining education with student-focused tools:

  • Affordable 5-Axis Training: Teach 5-axis machining at a fraction of the price of larger machines.

  • Hands-On Experience: Compact design allows more machines in a classroom, providing students with more practice time.

  • Free Simulator: Includes a free, user-friendly simulator for enhanced learning.

  • Career-Ready Skills: Students gain a competitive edge with real-world 5-axis machining experience.

  • Low-Stakes Learning: Crashes have lower consequences compared to larger machines, making it safe for beginners.

  • Industrial Workflow: Features and workflows match those of larger machines, preparing students for industry demands.

Our philosophy?

See the need and create the solution

After selling and supporting our flagship product, the Pocket NC, for 8 years - we became painfully aware of the fact that the options for 5 axis milling machines between our Pocket NC desktop machine and large industrial 5 axis machines were few and far between.

We observed customers whose primary constraint was the man-door entrance to their workspace using the Pocket NC machines for applications they aren’t well suited for.  We want our machines to be the first tool our customers turn to - not the last resort.

And so we decided to create a machine that would solve that problem, the Solo.  We know first hand that innovation doesn’t always start in a machine shop or even a garage(our company started in a garden shed). We aimed to pack all of the features you would find on an industrial 5 axis machine into a package that would still fit through a man door.

Solo features:

  • Servo and Ballscrew driven axes

  • Flood coolant and chip removal with a 7 gallon capacity

  • Approximately 6 inch cylinder working volume

  • 14 Tool Automatic Tool Changer

  • Pico Digital Probe

  • Polymer Concrete Base for increased rigidity

  • Compact footprint(34in x 28in)

  • Automation-ready

  • 1.3kW, 18,000rpm spindle with HSKE-25 interface

  • Capable of cutting a wide range of materials from plastics to aluminum, stainless steel and titanium

  • Runs off  110V or 220V

  • TCPC Kinetic Control User Interface
